Cheetah Air – Bakman Technologies
Creating a Viable Solution to Monitor and Detect Atmospheric Pollutions
Cheetah Air, a division of Cheetah Software Systems, started in 2014 with the intention of integrating drones into Cheetah’s leading-edge logistics platform to create a solution for drone delivery. While optimizing delivery services, we also strive to decrease the environmental impact of pollution caused by transportation operations through the integration of our UAV platforms.

Cheetah Air’s UAV Platform with Bakman’s integrated THz Spectrometer
Started in 2015, Bakman Technologies is the manufacturer of the world’s only portable, turn-key, frequency domain THz Spectrometers. With the intention of monitoring air pollution and global warming, Dr. Joseph R. Demers, in collaboration with Cheetah Air, conducted a project to integrate a Bakman THz spectrometer onto an unmanned aircraft with the intentions of conducting real-time gas analysis.

Flight Testing in Agoura Hills, CA
This project yielded initial results showing that it should be possible for an unmanned aircraft equipped with a THz Spectrometer to perform point detection of pollutants and other gases. While these flights were conducted on a multi-rotor aircraft for a short duration, future tests or integrations with different types of unmanned aircraft can be used to combat air pollution on a much larger scale. Information gathered during these tests is invaluable to Cheetah’s mission to decrease pollution caused by transportation operations and combat global warming on a larger scale.
